I apologise there was no blog last week, but alas I was away, though where I was, was certainly warmer and less wet than here.
Anyway here are the reports I have for last weekend 29th-30th plus a report from the u18's in the Southern Youth midweek league. from last Thursday
Redhill Town 1st team v Frenches Athletic FC
Surrey cup round 1
Redhill Town 1sts faced a youthful and somewhat neat Frenches Atheletic FC who gave the more 'experienced' plenty to worry about.
Redhill Town 1sts faced a youthful and somewhat neat Frenches Atheletic FC who gave the more 'experienced' plenty to worry about.
The first half saw waves of attracts leaving it hard for the redlittledevils to get out of their half! Ainsley Sacky club skipper did well to clear off the line but injured himself in the process and so he was subbed for treatment, this unsettling spell resulted in an own goal whilst scrambling to clear.
Carlos Lourelo scored the equaliser but soon found themselves back trailing the game. Tom Scott's field entry gave the reds some extra creativity and headed home to bring the score back to equal and giving the reds a sniff of the game with extra time looming.
The first half of extra time Frenches 3-2 up but the reds kept their wave of attacks coming until Tom scott weaving through several flustered players crossed the ball which rebounded off the oppositions hand leaving the ref pointing at the penalty spot.
There was only one man who was gonna take this, Gaffa John Penalver stepping out of retirement due to player injuries who struck hard bottom right hand corner. So, penalties began and with John Mcbride in goal the reds confidence clear to see, the reds put all accept one of their penalties away, and to the dismay of Frenches John Mcbride saved two of their penalties bar one that was shot wide! Final score 3-3 Redhill Town won convincingly on penalties. MOM Tom Scott.

Town U9 3 v 1 Hook Youth Blues U9
Redhill Town U9 continued their winning start to the
season with a well fought 3-1 victory against a strong Hook Youth Blues U9’s
team. The home team pressed hard from the whistle and were rewarded with good
possession. Some excellent midfield passing between Sam Loughran and Charlie
West allowed Stanley Cubbage to slot in an early goal. Hook Youth Blues’ reply
was denied by Goalkeeper William Bungay whose efforts earned him Man of the
Match.
After the break Hook Youth Blues pulled the score
even with a well placed penalty but within a minute of the restart Redhill Town
again took the initiative and a superb individual effort from Miles Greenfield
put the home team in front. Solid defending from Harry Ryan and Harry Cole
ensured that Hook Youth Blues were denied any chance to get back into the match
and the result was sealed with a wonderful effort from George Wilcox who kept a
cool head to poke home his first league goal for the team. The final few
minutes saw a beautifully aimed 30yd shot from Harry Ryan rattle the crossbar
leaving the final score at 3-1.

Town u18’s 1-4 Woking u18’s
Southern Youth Midweek Floodlit League cup
Redhill Town u18s youth drew Woking u18s youth in
the southern youth midweek floodlit league cup last week and it would seem the
reds a bit 'starry eyed' from the 'cardinals' gave them too much respect and
conceded an early goal. 15 minutes in the reds dominated the game pressing high
and were rewarded for their efforts from a corner kick delivered well from
Bradley O'conor that ricocheted off several players finding its way to Nick
Creighton on the 6 yard box who smashed it home.
This gave town the confidence to keep pressing and they were unlucky not to take the lead into the second half, but lapse of concentration and fitness against a well organised side resulted in the reds conceding three more goals leaving the score at the final whistle 4-1.
