Weekending 1-2nd October 2011

Match reports for the weekend 1-2 / 10/11

This weekend Redhill Town had mixed results. With our first team having a convincing win and The u15b’s also played host to a team from Australia. The match report is below

Redhill Town 3- 6 Roundshaw colts

Redhill Town fell to a 6-3 defeat against Roundshaw Colts Tornadoes.
Roundshaw took a quick lead after 2 mins, then Redhill Town battled bounced back with a hard fought equaliser by Joshua Jeffery. Redhill Town conceded again just before half time to go in 2-1 down at half-time.
The second half was a another hard-fought ding-dong battle, when Laimilija Gruodyte, Tom Hiscock and Charlie Minter started dominating the mid-field and set Luke Stevens on his amazing dribbling run down the left-wing and drilling a great low shot into the far post to equalise again 2-2. Roundshaw took the lead again quickly to make it 3-2, but then Joshua Jeffery decided to drive a long range toe-punt rocket into the back of the net to make it 3-3. The goalkeeper, Adam Barber saved a penalty with a spectacular save to his right to keep Redhill Town in the match.

Epsom & Ewell Premier Division – League Match 02/10/2011
Epsom & Ewell Colts A U12s 3   Redhill Town U12s 0

Despite a vastly improved performance, lady luck refused to shine on Redhill in a game they didn’t deserve to lose.

Redhill were a match for Epsom from the off, and the first half saw numerous chances created, but not taken, by both sides until Epsom took the lead in the 22nd minute.  Barely a minute after the restart, Epsom extended their lead when their striker managed to beat the offside trap.

The second half saw some excellent football from Redhill.  While the defence held firm, Redhill really took the game to Epsom and they were unfortunate not to take any of the chances they created.

In the 49th minute, a needless Redhill hand-ball led to an Epsom free-kick just outside the box.  The initial shot was blocked, but Epsom reacted quickest to the rebound and the second attempt was judged to have crossed the line.

Redhill can take heart from this improved performance, and it can only be a matter of time until that elusive first win!

Redhill U12s are still looking for more players and anyone interested should contact manager Anthony Reynolds on 01737 212103 or 07825 442317 for more information.

Wolves B u13’s 1 v 1 Redhill Town U13’s

u13s battled hard for a well earned point very proud. obvious penalty not given and considering the heat we were the better side, with more opputunites goalscorer prasoth kirubakaran man of the match the whole team..

Redhill Town FC U15s B welcomed visitors from Australia known as Northern Tigers U15s, they have been currently touring the UK visiting academies & watching premiership games. Redhill did well to battle against some very well organised talented players with no less than 6 international players who are ear marked to represent their country. The weather was perfect for the visitors who were delighted to be welcomed by way of a buffet provided after the game. Despite losing by the odd goal the experience of playing against a strong side will spur the lads on in their league after recent back to back wins!
