The new Update

Huge apology for the lack of updates but here is the massive update.

Epsom & Ewell League Division 1 – League Match 19/03/2011
Redhill Town U11s 4   Epsom Utd U11s 8
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Redhill held their own against league leaders Epsom in the first half, even taking the lead twice.  After 9 minutes, a long ball from Ryan O’Donovan found Jack Tickner who muscled his way through the defence to slot home.  Epsom drew level 2 minutes later after a long ball over the top eluded the Redhill defence, but within a minute Redhill were back in front.  O’Donovan floated in a long-range free-kick and Tickner was first to react, finishing with aplomb.

Redhill, brimming with confidence, kept Epsom at bay until the 19th minute when another long-ball over the top beat the offside trap.  On the stroke of half-time Epsom took the lead after a goalmouth pin-ball scramble led to an Epsom shot which came back off the post and deflected in courtesy of a Redhill leg.

A change in personnel at half-time, with O’Donovan replacing Harry Williams in goal, and Tickner taking a breather, did not have the desired effect.  Epsom took control of the game in the second half, scoring 5 goals in 20 minutes.  Tickner coming back on gave Redhill some added impetus.  Some good work down the right from Ryan Stevens found Tickner who outmuscled the defence to lob the keeper for his hat-trick, before bagging his fourth a minute from the end with a deft chip.

Apart from the first 20 minutes of the second half, this was a good performance from a Redhill side who are starting to gel nicely.

Redhill U10s remain top after facing local rivals Reigate Priory C, Redhill slow to get going had several early chances on goal but hitting the back of the net was proving difficult. Danny pescud opened the score line before half time with a finely excecuted shot. Second half the reds needing to up their game did not dissapoint, Harry Pope notched another two in preperation for the clubs golden boot and man of the match Dale Wooster scoring a hat trick. Some sloppy defending by the reds cost three goals but deservably well taken by Reigate Priory.

Epsom & Ewell League Division 1 – League Match 26/03/2011
Epsom Utd U11s 7   Redhill Town U11s 1
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Having lost 8-4 in the reverse fixture last week, Redhill were determined to put in a better performance against league leaders Epsom, but it was not to be.

Some lax defending led to Epsom taking a 5-0 half-time lead, but Redhill came out a different team in the second half.  Making use of the downhill slope which had gone against them in the first half, Redhill dominated the play from the start.

In the 2nd minute, a long-range free-kick from Ryan O’Donovan cannoned back off the bar, and a minute later Ryan Stevens’ rasping shot was just pushed round for a corner, which Epsom cleared and then promptly broke away to score their sixth.

In the 9th minute, a terrific long ball found Jack Tickner, who shrugged off the defence and put a great ball across goal which Jacob Toney poked home at the far post, celebrating his goal with some highly entertaining backflips.

Two minutes later, Epsom scored again after Redhill dithered too long on the ball out from a goal-kick, and four minutes later Charlie Case-Green made a terrific double save.

Redhill continued to press Epsom for the remainder of the half, and were unlucky not to be rewarded further for their efforts.

Epsom & Ewell League Division 1 – League Match 02/04/2011
Hook Youth U11s  3    Redhill Town U11s  2
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Having weathered some early Hook pressure, Redhill took the lead in the 21st minute after a long headed clearance from Robin Lewer fell to Joel Sowton and his great through-ball found Jack Tickner, who held off two defenders to slot home.

Three minutes later Hook were level when, after a great save from Charlie Case-Green, the ball back in wasn’t cleared effectively.  A minute later Hook took the lead after Case-Green misjudged the high bounce from a hopeful long-distance punt which came down with snow on it, and Hook extended their lead on the stroke of half-time.

In the second half Redhill’s defence held firm, limiting Hook to just a couple of half-chances, whilst at the other end Redhill just weren’t having the luck their play deserved.

Redhill were passing the ball well, combined with some good movement and they were back in the game in the 49th minute.  Tickner chased a long ball down the right and crossed in to Harry Williams, whose shot deflected in off the back of a defender sprawled on the goal-line.

Try as they might, Redhill just couldn’t find the equaliser they deserved as Hook repelled attack after attack in the last ten minutes, coupled with the referee missing a blatant hand-ball in the box.

Redhill Town U13’s 3- 3 Nethern Falcons

The match began very slowly with both teams trying out the goal keepers, suddenly Redhill Town found the back off the net with a header from Jake Monk during a set pieace, Nethern falcons responded well and scored 2 goals before half time. Redhill Town showed determination and from a nother set pieace Conner Beesley found the back of the net. Both teams were anxious for the deciding goal and Nethern falcons scored there 3rd, Redhill Town now began to lose hope but an isperational lob from Aaron Humprey made the match 3 – 3

Epsom & Ewell League Division 1 – League Match 09/04/2011
Redhill Town U11s  6   Anglo Saxons 1
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After 4 defeats, Redhill were back to winning ways thanks to a hat-trick from Jacob Toney.  Despite dominating early on, Redhill found themselves behind after 5 minutes, but were back on level terms 4 minutes later when Harry Williams bundled home from a corner.

In the 14th minute, another Redhill corner was flicked on at the near post by Jack Tickner and headed home by Toney for his first.  9 minutes later a great through-ball from Ryan O’Donovan found Tickner who calmly lobbed the keeper to give Redhill a 3-1 half-time lead.

Redhill totally dominated the second half, and could have scored a hatful but it wasn’t until the 51st minute that Toney grabbed his second.  After a great run down the right, Tickner’s cross eluded the defence, allowing Toney to tap in at the far post.

Just 5 minutes later, Toney treated the spectators to his third celebratory backflip as he bagged his hat-trick.  Joel Sowton picked the ball up in midfield and after beating several players, slotted a great pass through to Toney whose first shot was blocked by the keeper, but he made no mistake in poking home the rebound.

2 minutes from the end, after some sustained Redhill pressure, O’Donovan floated over a great corner to find an unmarked James Smart, who headed home.
