Match results for the junior section 17-18th September

Another week, more matches. and what a week it was for many teams.

U9’s 4- 3 Ashstead colts u9’s

Redhill U9’s came out of the blocks quickly against Ashtead Colts B and went into a 2 goal lead with goals from Joshua Bashorun and an excellent free-kick from Lukas Fisher. Ashtead scored late in the half to make the half time score 2-1. The second half was a tense affair until Redhill restored their  two goal lead with Lukas Fisher playing Joshua Bashorun through and he just beat the keeper to the ball to make it 3-1. The same combination connected against just 2 minutes later with the goal of the game as Joshua Bashorun completed his hat-trick chipping the ball over the advancing keeper. Redhill then gifted Ashtead a goal to set up a nervous final 5 minutes and although Ashtead scored again right at the end Redhill held out for a 4-3 win which takes them top of the league.

RTFC U12 Girls 0-1 Beecholme Belles

Redhill U12 Girls fought a tough contest against Beecholme Belles and were unlucky to lose the game 1-0 against a much more experienced team. Redhill had to soak up a lot of pressure during the game and Zoe Stevens made a number of fine saves for Redhill.
Epsom & Ewell Premier Division – League Match 18/09/2011
Redhill Town U12s  2    Epsom United U12s  3
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Having lost heavily to Epsom twice last season, Redhill defied expectations by taking the lead in the 2nd minute, when Tom Parker beat the dithering Epsom goalkeeper to a backpass and slotted the ball home.

Epsom were back on level terms in the 11th minute, and then took the lead 4 minutes later when a parried shot wasn’t cleared and fell to an Epsom player to tap in from close range. Redhill, however, dug deep and equalised just before half-time – a great ball from Keller Norris releasing Jack Tickner to blast home.

Redhill matched Epsom in the second half, and were unlucky to concede a third goal to deny them the draw their performance deserved.

Redhill U12s are still looking for more players and anyone interested should contact manager Anthony Reynolds on 01737 212103 or 07825 442317 for more information.

Redhill Town U 14’s unlucky in narrow loss

Redhill Town U 14’s first season in the Epsom & Ewell Premier League is proving to be a challenge in many ways.
The team travelled to local rivals Merstham in their second League game of the season and can consider themselves very unfortunate not to have come away with a share of the spoils.
The Reds went behind midway through the half, but battled back to go in at the break even when a Merstham defender was judged to have fouled Owen Brown with Dylan Charman converting from the spot.
Merstham took the lead again with Redhill defending a corner which unfortunately came off a Reds defenders head for an own goal.
Things became difficult for Redhill with 20 mins to go when their goal keeper Josh Stevens picked up a shoulder injury and had to be taken off. Dylan Charman who himself was struggling with an ankle injury deputised.
As the Reds went in pursuit of an equaliser they had to take risks and it was during one of their attacks that left them open to a counter reply from Merstham who made it 3-1.
Full credit should be given to the battling Reds who never gave up and reduced the deficit when Seb Flint blasted in from short range. With time running out the Reds have several opportunities to equalise but just could not convert their chances.
Although this was Reds second defeat in their new League the character shown was highly commendable by all players when up against all odds.
A Hospital visit confirmed that Josh Stevens will be out of action for up to eight weeks.
Team: Josh Stevens, Ben Williams, Kallum Cole, Matthew Swetman, Adam Endsleigh, Max Geddes, Luke Charsley, Dylan Charman, Owen Brown, Aaron Walker, Aaron Holder, Sebastian Flint, Joley Lawrence,

REDHILL TOWN U15 B  (3) 5 Vs NUTFIELD U15 (4) 4
18th September 2011 – New Pond Farm
Redhill win thriller against Nutfield!
Redhill Town U15B produced a stunning comeback to defeat League rivals, Nutfield FC after conceding an early goal and trailing 4-0 after the half hour mark.
It appeared as though the writing was on the wall for Redhill Town, when after just 2 minutes Redhill left back CJ Price felled Nutfield striker Danny Bordalas, just outside of the 18 yard box. But, as Nutfield were preparing to take the free-kick, to the disbelief of everyone watching, the referee pointed to the spot and awarded a penalty, although the incident clearly took place outside of the box.
Nutfield tucked away the penalty and 5 minutes later it was 2-0, when bad marking from a corner allowed  Bordalas to rise like a salmon at the far post to score his and Nutfield’s second of the match. Redhill battled away, but they couldn’t handle the pace of Nutfield’s forwards who were pressing with every opportunity and closing Redhill down. This paid dividends for the visitors when just after 20 minutes a defensive mix up allowed Nutfield to steal a third goal from 2 yards out.
Nutfield scored a fourth after 23 minutes, when a defence splitting ball fed Bordalas and he made no mistake from 12 yds to put the lights out on Redhill, by scoring his hat-trick and Nutfield’s fourth. Nutfield must have thought it was GAME – SET AND MATCH, but no one could of predicted the script and what was about to happen.
Redhill Manager Jack Caffyn needed a miracle if Town were to get anything from this match and it came in the form of new star winger Razool, who started on the bench but came on just after the half hour mark, with Redhill with a mountain to climb.
Suddenly the Redhill midfield started to dominate the proceedings, cutting out the decisive balls to the Nutfield strikers that had proved so deadly in the first twenty minutes. Redhill striker Ceasar went close after being fed by Razool down the left flank, only to see his shot saved comfortably by the keeper. However, the tide was slowly turning in Redhill’s favour and they gained confidence in their increased possession.
Redhill managed to get on the score sheet after 31 minutes when Aiden Creighton’s long range effort slipped through the grasp of the Nutfield keeper and into the back of the net.
For the first time in the game the visitors started to look vunerable, Razool’s movement, pace and flair was troubing the Nutfield defence and it was his decisive cross-field pass that was met at the far post by CJ Price (now playing left midfield) who attoned for his penalty mistake, by chipping the keeper to close the gap to 4-2.
The Nutfield keeper was now by far the busiest of the two keepers and you felt that if Redhill continued with this pressure they would get something out of this game.
Nutfield were shell shocked and started to argue amongst themselves at disbelief of letting Redhill back into the match. Nutfield’s half time team talk to a turn for the worse, as in injury time Redhill midfielder Rohan intercepted a defensive pass and after gaining his composure smashed the ball past the helpless Nutfield keeper into the roof of the net – cue pandemonium on the Redhill sideline.

Redhill Town U17’s 6-2 Holland sports u17

Redhill Town U17s were quickly in to their stride with new boys Davy Delton-Wright and Rob Tester combining with stalwart Matt Walsh to boss the midfield. It was not long before Elliott Steventon broke through to slot the ball home.  Elliott Steventon struck again after a good interchange with Rob Tester and the Reds were flying.  Matt Walsh added another goal before half time in what was a great team performance.
In the second half Holland Sports came more in to the game and scored two goals.  However, further goals from Ashley Maynard, Matt Walsh and debutant Conor Johnson were enough to comfortably bring home the points with a 6 - 2 victory.

The new season

Being September it is time for the new football season, and for the juniors this was last weekend.

Many changes have happened to Redhill Town, this season, with a launch of a mens team and an U12's girls team, making for a very exciting season.

Some of the reports from last weekend are here.

Redhill town FC results for the u9’s,u10’s,U12’s and our new under 12 girls team.

With new season for Junior football kicking off last weekend, many of our teams have been in action, including our new u12’s girls team playing their first league game away to Ascot.

Redhill Town U9’s 0-0 Reigate Youth FC A U9’s
Redhill Town U9’s first game of the season was a closely fought contest. Reigate posed the early threat and some determined defending by Joshua Beard and Dan Adsledu kept the Reigate strikers from having a clear opportunity. Redhill's first chance fell to Joshua Bashorun after a mistake from the Reigate defender allowed him to have a run through, but the defence recovered well and the chance was gone.

A long range shot from Reigate was well saved by Ben Telfer in the Redhill goal, but then the best chance of the half fell to Redhill as a cross from Joshua Bashorun was missed by the keeper, but Shane Smith was unable to direct his shot on target. Lukas Fisher almost curled a free-kick in towards the corner of the goal but a defender got up really well to head the ball away.

At the start of the second half Reigate came out strongly and pinned Redhill back in their own half for a while. A corner for Reigate caused a scramble in the Redhill penalty area but Redhill kept getting bodies in the way to keep the ball out, and eventually cleared the ball.

With about 5 minutes to go Joshua Bashorun and Lukas Fisher both had chances to score the winner for Redhill, and Ben Telfer made another good stop just before the end of the match when a Reigate corner floated dangerously across the goal. In the end a draw was probably a fair result.

Redhill Town U10A draw 2-2 against Reigate Youth Hotspurs
 in a hard fought battle.

Redhill Town totally dominated the first 15mins of the match, and early on  Luke Stevens  hit a screamer into the top of the net to give Redhill Town a 1-0 lead , closely followed by a lovely dribble and low shot by Zach Layne  to give Redhill Town a 2-0 lead. Reigate Youth got a goal back soon after to go in at half time  2-1.
It was a hard fought battle in the second half with many chances at both ends. Liamilija Gruodyte, Charlie Minter and Joshua Bayode all made some life-saving tackles in defence to keep  Redhill Town in the lead. The wingers, Joshua Jeffrey and Luke Stevens worked hard flooding the penalty box with great crosses causing the Reigate defence unbelievable trouble but they soaked it all up and caught Redhill Town on the break to get  the equaliser to make a final score 2-2.
Player of the match: Liamilija Gruodyte

Surrey Youth Girls League
Ascot Diamonds U12 Girls   7-1   Redhill Town U12 Girls

This was the first ever league match for a Redhill Town girls match and it was a tough assignment against a strong Ascot team. Ascot started strongly and were quickly 3 goals up, but then Redhill came into the game and gained in confidence. Daniela Fisherova scored the first ever Redhill goal with a fine shot into the top corner, but Ascot came back strongly again to lead 5-1 at half time. In the second half the lack of squad numbers told as eventually Redhill ended up playing with only 6 players in the second half but battled well in the circumstances and showed tremendous team spirit and they can be proud of their performance.

Epsom & Ewell Premier Division – League Match 11/09/2011
Redhill Town U12s  1    South Park U12s  3
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Redhill began the new campaign with a close defeat to South Park.  After a fairly even first half, which ended 0-0, Redhill took the lead just after the break with a fine individual goal from Ryan Stevens.  Picking the ball up just inside the opposition half, Stevens went on one of his trademark mazy runs, beating several players before his long-range shot went in off the far post.

Redhill’s lead lasted just 2 minutes though, as a South Park corner wasn’t cleared.  Several shots were blocked, but after a goalmouth game of pinball the ball eventually found the roof of Redhill’s net.

10 minutes later, South Park took the lead following another corner.  The ball was initially cleared by the Redhill defence but the cross back in found a player unmarked to tap in at the far post.

For the next 15 minutes, Redhill tried hard to find a way through the South Park defence but were caught with a sucker punch as South Park scored a third with the last kick of the game.
