Redhill Town FC Match report 19th-20th Feb

Match reports for Redhill Town FC weekend 19th-20th Feb

Redhill Town U9 win 5-0 against Old Coulsdon Colts B

They stay second in the table.
The first half saw Joshua Jeffrey make powerful runs down the right-wing and bombard the opposition defence with dangerous crosses which eventually fell to Tom Hiscock to smash in his 11th goal of the season, and for Redhill Town to end the first half 1-0 up.
The second half saw Redhill Town push Luke Stevens and Charlie Minter up into midfield to join Haydn Puttick, and Joshua Jeffrey into attack. The midfield took control of the game with some amazing left-wing runs and crosses from Luke Stevens, and some great tackles and passing moves from Charlie Minter. Joshua Bayode and Kane Taylor had brilliant performances in defence and even saw them play midfield roles for a period of time and both come close to scoring.  There were several close chances on goal from literally every Redhill Town player and eventually Joshua Jeffrey's hard work was rewarded when he scored his well-deserved 2nd goal of the season. The last 15mins saw the introduction of Zach Layne and Darren Smith, to add some fire-power in attack, which resulted in Zach Layne scoring a seemingly effortless quick hat-trick to extend the lead to 5-0. The goalkeeper, Adam Barber, had a reasonably quiet game, but was forced to pull off a couple of spectacular second-half saves to keep his clean sheet, and to help secure Redhill Town with a brilliant 5-0 victory.

Epsom & Ewell League Division 1 – League Match 19/02/2011
Elm Grove Colts 1   Redhill Town U11s 3
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Having lost 7-2 to Elm Grove the previous week, Redhill turned the form book on its head to inflict Elm Grove’s first defeat of the season and put a dent in their title aspirations.

Having absorbed some early Elm Grove pressure, Redhill took the lead in the 19th minute when from a corner, new signing Jack Tickner flicked the ball over his shoulder to beat the keeper at the far post.

Just 3 minutes later Elm Grove were level from the penalty spot, following a needless handball in the box, and some superb goalkeeping from Charlie Case-Green kept the score at 1-1 at half-time.

Just after the break, Case-Green was beaten by a lob, but the ball was headed off the line by Robin Lewer, and a couple of minutes later Case-Green raced off his line to make an excellent block.

In the 42nd minute, Tickner took the ball down the left, and his shot from a tight angle beat the keeper and crossed the line before the defender could react.

6 minutes later, Redhill extended their lead with a superb strike from Harry Williams.  A Redhill corner was cleared, but Williams flicked the ball up and volleyed home from 25 yards.  Great technique for one so young, and a goal any professional would have been proud of.

Redhill’s defence held firm for the rest of the game, marshalled well by Lewer and James Smart, with further notable saves from Case-Green in goal.

An excellent result for Redhill, befitting of one of their best performances of the season.

Flint does the trick as Redhill Town U13's win

Redhill Town U 13's continued their impressive run with an emphatic 5 - 3 victory over AFC Ewell A.
An even start to the game saw both sides have good chances with Josh Stevens tipping a goalward shot onto the bar.
However in the 20th minute the Reds broke the deadlock with Dylan Charman linking well with Sebastian Flint who fired in the shot.
The lead was doubled minutes later when again Charman providing the pass for Owen Brown to muscle his way through the AFC defence and leave the keeper stranded with his powerful strike.
The second half saw AFC Ewell press back the Reds where they reduced the defecit.
Reds came back with Flint attacking a cross ball into the penalty area to secure the two goal advantage.
Redhill mounted pressure on the AFC goal which resulted in an own goal.
In the final minutes of the game AFC rallyed to score two goals but it was Flint who secured the three points for the Reds
with the Reds fifth and his hat trick .

Epsom & Ewell League Division 1 – League Match 12/02/2011
Redhill Town U11s 2  Elm Grove Colts 7

Despite some January transfer-window activity, Redhill were undone by Elm Grove’s one-man-show, their super-quick striker scoring 5 of their 7 goals.

On a sticky, heavy pitch Elm Grove took the lead in the 6th minute when a cross was spilled by Charlie Case-Green and the ball was prodded home from close-range.  Two minutes later Elm Grove extended their lead after Redhill failed several attempts to clear the loose ball, and on 14 minutes a long ball split the Redhill defence, leaving ‘super-quick’ to race through and slot home.

In the 17th minute, Case-Green raced off his line to intercept another long-ball, getting injured in the process.  The resulting Elm Grove free-kick was blocked, but the ball fell to ‘super-quick’ who toe punted the rebound beyond Case-Green’s reach for his hat-trick.

Redhill’s first meaningful attack came in the 20th minute, but the goal-bound shot was turned round for a corner.

A concussed Case-Green was then replaced in goal by Harry Williams, but Elm Grove extended their lead further to lead 5-0 at half-time, and leave Redhill with a Newcastle-like mountain to climb.

Once ‘super-quick’ had scored his 5th goal in the 35th minute, he was withdrawn and the game suddenly evened itself out, with several Redhill attacks thwarted by the Elm Grove keeper.

In the 44th minute, an Elm Grove goal-kick fell to Joel Sowton, who showed great control to volley the ball back beyond the reach of the keeper from fully 30 yards.  5 minutes later, Elm Grove scored again, but Redhill got their ‘second half equaliser’ just before the final whistle when Tom Parker blasted home after a Redhill corner.

Redhill will need to work on stopping ‘super-quick’ when the 2 sides meet in the reverse fixture this coming weekend.

 Whyteleafe U 13's 1 v 4 Redhill Town U 13's

Redhill Town U 13's continued their impressive form with a fine 4 - 1 victory over Whyteleafe.
In difficult conditions the Reds were slow to settle but a goal from Owen Brown on his debut gave the Reds a 1 - 0 half time lead.
The second half again saw the Reds struggling to cope with Whyteleafe equalising soon after the start.
However this spurned the Reds into action with Brown again up front crossing the ball for Sebastian Flint to leap above the defence and
power his header home.
The Reds were now full of confidence with the defence thwarting any Whyteleafe attacks and and started to dominate.
The third goal was Flints second of the game as he speed at the home defence and drilled his shot low into the far corner.
Redhill continued to look for goals and it was Bown to secure his brace and the Reds threee points when he thundered his shot past the goalkeeper

Redhill Town FC u16 3-2 Oxshot Royals

Redhill U16s continued to climb the table after a hard fought victory over Oxshot  Royals in the Epsom and Ewell league.
On a windy and rain soaked pitch Redhill found themselves one down shortly after the start.Oxshot looked likely to extend their lead by some last ditch tackling kept them out.
Slowly Redhill came back in to the game and after a period of pressure Matt Walsh slotted the ball home to equalise.
In the second, the conditions deteriorated making it hard to play good football but Redhill started brightly.  However, Oxshot were quick on the break and took the lead again against the run of play.
Redhill, playing the better football, pushed Oxshot  back and an equaliser came from top scorer, Ashley Maynard.  Redhill continued to press and Elliott Steventon coolly lobbed the keeper to make it 3 - 2 with just minutes to spare.
